Custom Development License

For custom software development projects, unless otherwise specified in the project agreement, all intellectual property rights in the custom-developed code and deliverables are transferred to the client upon full payment of the project fees.

The client receives a perpetual, exclusive license to use, modify, and distribute the custom-developed software for their business purposes.

Third-Party Components

Projects may include third-party libraries, frameworks, and tools that are subject to their own licenses. Common licenses include:

  • MIT License: Permissive license allowing commercial use, modification, and distribution
  • Apache 2.0: Permissive license with patent grant
  • GPL: Copyleft license requiring derivative works to be open source
  • Proprietary: Commercial licenses for specific tools and services

Clients are responsible for compliance with all third-party license terms. We will provide a list of third-party components and their licenses upon request.

Starter Lab Tools and Frameworks

Starter Lab may use proprietary tools, frameworks, and methodologies developed internally. These remain the property of Starter Lab and are licensed for use in the specific project only. Clients do not receive rights to redistribute or resell these tools.

Open Source Contributions

Some projects may contribute code back to open source projects. In such cases, contributions will be made under the applicable open source license, and clients will be notified in advance.

Source Code Access

Upon project completion and full payment, clients receive access to the source code and documentation. This includes all custom-developed code, configuration files, and deployment instructions.

Modifications and Updates

Clients are free to modify the delivered code. However, modifications may affect ongoing support and maintenance agreements. We recommend discussing significant modifications with us to ensure compatibility and maintainability.

Warranty and Support

The license includes a warranty period as specified in the project agreement. Post-warranty support and maintenance are available through separate service agreements.

Restrictions

Unless otherwise agreed, the license does not permit:

  • Reselling the software as a product or service
  • Using Starter Lab's name or branding without permission
  • Reverse engineering proprietary Starter Lab tools
  • Removing copyright notices or attribution
